Book Cake
This book cake was designed for Ashley's birthday by her sweet mother and sister. It is based off a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote and Ashley's love for reading! The actual cake was sculpted from an 8" cake, covered in fondant and made to look "antiqued and worn". There is also a fondant bookmark, quill pin, and glasses!

Pink Teapot Tea Party Cake
I just adore this pink teapot cake! Jane Anne's sweet grandma came in to order this cake and requested we use as little fondant as possible! The only thing that ended up being fondant was the the spout, handle, and little top ball! I love how it turned out! The "plate" and teapot are both made from 8" vanilla bean cakes. Jane Anne was having a Tea Party at Rivercrest and the cake was the centerpiece!

Yoda Head Cake
So I will be the first to admit, I've never seen a star wars movie! I know, crazy right!? So I always hesitate when I get Star Wars orders-- but this one was too fun to pass up! Yoda's head was made from an 8" white cake dyed green. I think he turned out pretty awesome!

As much as I hate snakes in real life, oh how I love this snake cake! It is made from a 4 layer 8" yellow cake and sculpted to look like a coiled up snake! The cake is covered in green fondant. Let's just hope nobody feeds the snakes at the party any of this cake! (yes they are having a snake show!!)

Owl Cake and cupcakes!
This cute owl cake and matching cupcakes were for Noah's first birthday! His mommy sent me a picture of a "girly" owl cake, so I went off of that general design, but made it more boy-ish and rustic. The cupcakes were red velvet, marble, and confetti- with sprinkles and buttercream to match. The actual smash cake was a white cake made out of 6" cakes, and covered in matching fondant made to look "stitched together".

Converse and Cupcakes Smash Cake & Cupcakes
More Zebra print and pink??? You don't hear me complaining! :) I love it!! The theme for this smash combo was "converse shoes", and the Mommy also wanted it to to be uber-girly and pink! The Smash cake is a "Cupcake Cake" made from 6" and 4" white cake, covered in fondant with a fondant bow that has hand painted zebra stripes. The cupcakes were originally only going to have 2-d converse shoes, but I thought it would be too cute to make them 3-d, and I think they turned out awesome!! The cupcakes were one dozen white with pink buttercream and fun matching fondant toppers.

Rhino Cake
Another super cool 3-d animal cake!! This was for a 5th birthday, with a request for a Rhino Head Cake. The actual cake is sculpted out of an 8" and 6" red velvet cake. It was covered in ivory fondant, airbrushed with different shades of silver and grey with fondant horns, ears, and party hat & blower. I have to say I'm really digging the 3-d sculpted cakes and hope to get more requests because they honestly turn out so cool that it even kind of amazes me sometimes :)
"Leah,
Just wanted you to know the beautifully crafted rhinocerous cake was just as delicious as it was impressive. All the business cards disappeared. I'm carving up the leftovers to share with neighbors. Thank you for making Robert's 5th birthday special. -J"

Cupcake Cake for a 1st Birthday
Here is a cute little cake for Kamden's first birthday. It is actually for a photo shoot- This must be a new trend because I have received a few requests for this lately. You take your smash cake and get professional photos the "smash-age"! It sounds fun to me...! The cake is white cake with buttercream filling, frosting and covered in fondant.

Indulge Magazine Fort Worth May 2011 Issue Springtime Flower Pot Cake
So Leah's Sweet Treats will be featured in the May Issue of Indulge Magazine among some other foodies (and then hopefully republished later in the Star Telegram) and I just dropped off this awesome cake to the Star Telegrams offices to be photographed for the issue! I'm not sure how much will actually be published about Leah's Sweet Treats or if they are taking a variety of pictures and which will be chosen, but let's hope this cake makes it to print! They requested a "Springtime" theme since it is the May issue so I decided to go with a flower pot theme with tons of bright flowers and "springy" colors. I have to admit I am really in love with this cake and this is kind of "me in a nutshell" when it comes to cake artistry. This is the kind of project I loooove to do, and having no restraints is always a plus! In honor of my awesome friend Jackie "Jackleen" Collins I had to put some cute little pink lady bugs crawling around.
It is a real cake- the flower pot is confetti with buttercream filling and the bottom tier is chocolate chocolate chip also with buttercream filling. The cakes are covered with fondant and all the leaves/flowers/ladybugs are also made out of fondant.
Happy Spring!! (This weather rocks!!)

Princess and the Pea Cake
This cake was made for the Lena Pope Home Sweethearts Dessert Fantasy Cake Competition (Say that 5 times fast!) I chose the theme "Princess and the Pea" with a modern day twist. The cake was made out 6 layers of Strawberry Cake and buttercream frosting, all covered with fondant blanket and sheets! The princess was made out of white modeling chocolate and fondant, and all the little details were also made out of fondant.
